Tourism Deptt, GDA organize 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign at Gulmarg

Department of Tourism and Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) initiated cleanliness drive at Tourist resort Gulmarg under Swachhata Hi Seva which will conclude on October 2, 2017.Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah, CEO Gulmarg Development Authority Hanief Balkhi besides officials from JKTDC, Municipal Committee Tangmarg and locals in large numbers participated in the drive.On the occasion, Director Tourism stressed on keeping the tourist places clean. He urged locals to promote eco-tourism for the sustainable growth of the tourism sector.Asserting that Gulmarg is very important and prime tourist destination in Kashmir he said “Gulmarg is winter as well as summer destination. It is very important to keep this destination clean and everybody has to ensure its cleanliness.”He said that there is a need to protect environment and we all should keep surroundings clean for the betterment of environment.About the Swachhata Hi Seva Hai campaign, the Director said “The campaign has been launched national wide but as Kashmir is rich in natural resources than any other state; we have more responsibility towards preserving our environment.”On the occasion, the works of the construction of bio-digester and waste treatment plan was also reviewed to ensure proper disposal of garbage at this tourist resort.
