Governor Acharya Devvrat today presented Pride of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal award of Zee television to five personalities from Himachal for their distinguished services in their respective field in a function organized at Chandigarh.Presiding over the function, the Governor said that there was no dearth of talent in the society but it was our responsibility to recognize them so that others should follow them and also take inspiration. He said that a great ideology could be helpful in creating good society as powerful thoughts could change the direction of the society.

He said that the society needed man of character and such events would be helpful in recognizing those people who had done humanitarian work in the grass root level and added that we should bring such people forward in the society.The Governor appreciated the initiative of the Zee network to organize a function, which was fully dedicated to the real heroes of the society. He honoured Wicket keeper of Indian Women Cricket Team Sushma Verma, Social worker Nirmal Chandel, Cardiologist Dr. P.C.Negi, Environmentalist Mehar Chand Thakur and progressive farmer Hariman Sharma all from Himachal and others from Punjab and Haryana for their exemplary services.Technical Education Minister of Punjab Shri Charanjit Singh Channi said that media has important role in creating awareness in the society and also worked as a opinion leader. He appreciated Zee network for highlighting   positive aspects of the society. Earlier, Editor Zee Punjab, Haryana & Himachal Shri Dinesh Sharma welcomed the Governor and briefed about the purpose of organizing the event.
