DC Poonch reviews Eid-ul-Azha arrangements

Deputy Commissioner, Tariq Ahmad Zargar, today conducted a joint meeting of concerned officers, civil society members and heads of different Muslim religious organizations to review the arrangements being made for ensuing Eid-ul-Azha festival.The meeting discussed various arrangements to be put in place by the concerned departments in detail.The DC sought suggestions from religious heads and Eidgah committee members regarding smooth and successful conduct of this religious festival.Senior Superintendent of Police Rajiv Kumar Panday, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Ashraf Chowdhary, Assistant commissioner Development, Zubair Shah, Executive Engineer of PDD, PHE, Executive Officer Municipal Committee, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Sheep husbandry officer, Assistant Regional Transport Officer besides other concerned officers were present in the meeting.The availability of essential commodities including rice, flour, sugar, kerosene oil and LPG, transport arrangements, cleanliness of lanes and drains around Eidgah,  Jamia Masjid, streets approaching mosque, ambulance services, uninterrupted power and water supply and repair and renovation of roads were discussed threadbare in the meeting.The meeting was informed that two month ration is being distributed, in advance, among the consumers and sufficient quantity of ration is available in the godowns of the concerned departments.DDC directed the PDD & PHE department to ensure adequate supply of power and drinking water during the festival days. He also directed the PHE department to put in place water tanker services wherever required. The Fire and Emergency services department were asked to keep fire tenders ready at vulnerable places to tackle any eventuality.The DDC directed Municipal Committee to launch cleanliness around all religious places and Eidgahs and also ensure dustbins at identified places besides cleanliness of drainage system around the religious places.He instructed Assistant Director FCS&CA to ensure the availability and distribution of essential commodities well before Eid. Chief Medical officer was instructed to keep available ambulance services along with staff and necessary medicine at the selected locations.Chief Animal Husbandry was directed to ensure availability of poultry birds at fixed rates across the district.The DDC directed the officers of municipal committee, CAPD, legal metrology, food safety officer and police departments to conduct regular market checking especially during the festivities for maintaining quality of commodities and also check overcharging on  essential  commodities, sacrificial animals, mutton and poultry. He directed to take legal action against erring shopkeepers. Issues related to availability of sufficient transport, security, traffic management were also discussed in the meeting. DC asked ARTO for arranging better transport facilities besides checking the menace of overloading. Earlier, Eidgah committee members and religious heads apprised the meeting of various issues and demands for the smooth conduct of holy festival.
