Director Tourism Kashmir, Mahmood A Shah Wednesday visited Cultural Center at Nowhatta in the old city of Srinagar where photography exhibition cum workshop is in full swing.The workshop inaugurated on the occasion of World Photography Day on August 19, 2017 was organized by the Department of Tourism, Kashmir and Gayoor Art Foundation.Scores of the selected photographs on culture, heritage, art, craft, people, food, local architecture and landscape were put on display during the workshop.Hundreds of locals and tourists who visited the Centre during the workshop appreciated the work of the artists and the organizers for portraying Kashmir’s beauty and other aspects through stunning photographs.The Director Tourism said it is the Department’s endeavour to promote local culture, art, craft and landscape through such open workshops.“The Cultural Centre facility at Nowhatta has become a common platform for the local youth especially artists to exhibit their talent and skills in different arts. Earlier, we organized calligraphy exhibition which was followed by a creative writing workshop. Now this photography exhibition is attracting youth to this place,” said Mahmood A Shah.He said the Department will continue to hold such activities at the Cultural Centre to highlight the potential of the local youth in different fields and bring this historic place on the tourism map.Gayoor Art Foundation selected best 55 photographs which were put on display at the Centre out of which best five photographs will be awarded.One of the artists Ishfaq Ali said the Centre has helped him get in a great way and acted as a platform to showcase his skills.Nawshad H Gayoor of Gayoor Art Foundation said the workshop was very interactive in which the artists learnt from each other and honed their skills.
