LoC Shelling: DC Rajouri oversees relief measures

Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today visited relief camps set up for border migrants and also took stock of the obtaining situation in villages along the Line of Control (LoC) that are affected by cross LoC shelling.The DC enquired about the welfare of migrants and reviewed facilities being provided to them by the district administration. It was said that the District Administration has established special relief camps for the people evacuated from habitations along the Line of Control (LoC) following heavy cross-border shelling in the area recently.Pertinently, the District Administration and Police had yesterday launched a major rescue operation and rescued 217 students and around 15 teachers from three schools in Nowshera sub-division during the shelling.More than 150 students were shifted to camps while other students were handed over to their parents.On the occasion while briefing the media persons about rescue and relief measures at the relief camp set up in Government Middle School Bawali , the DC said that the district administration in coordination with other departments, is providing proper accommodation, food, cooking facility, drinking water, sanitation, first aid and other basic amenities in the relief camps, adding that officers and officials from various Departments have been deployed to ensure facilities at relief camps.
