Minister of Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, today convened a meeting to review construction of buildings and other civil infrastructure in schools under different allied educational schemes and implementation of centrally sponsored schemes.The Meeting reviewed the overall progress of ongoing works under SSA, RMSA and District Capex for construction of Girls hostel buildings and upgradation and strengthening of middle schools in Kashmir division.The Minister of State for Education Priya Sethi was also present in the meeting.While seeking the physical status on allied projects, the meeting was informed that the construction of buildings is going on and will be completed on time. While as, strengthening and upgradation of middle schools of various schools of the Kashmir division will replace inadequate educational infrastructure and provide much needed additional capacity to meet demographic needs.The Minister directed RMSA to co-ordinate with Secretary Education and other departments, so that work on allied projects is completed at an earliest. He asked officials to go for the joint inspection of sites to check quality and upgradation work of schools, besides to ensure that the developmental works are completed within the stipulated time.He also directed officials to resume work on the projects where work has been stopped due to the cost escalation and asked them to make fresh estimation of projected work so that funds are disbursed accordingly.The Meeting was attended by the Secretary School Education Farooq Ahmad Shah, Director Education Kashmir G N Itoo, Director School Education Jammu, Director SSA Saugat Biswas, Director RAMSA Tufail Matoo, and Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir Abdul Hameed Sheikh and other concerned officers.
