Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region, Prime Minister Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space, Dr. Jatinder Singh today inaugurated Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalya at Akhnoor.Minister of State for Education, Technical Education , Priya Sethi , Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore, MLA, Rajeev Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan , Commissioner, NVS, HQ, Noida , Bishwajit Kumar Singh , Joint Commissioner, NVS, HQ, Noida, Deputy Commission, NVS, RO Chandigarh, S.P Kaur Sidhu  , Principal, JNV, Akhnoor, Sukhraj Kaur and Principals from various JNVs were present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister applauded the efforts of administration of JNVs and said that students of JNV had proved their mettle by achieving enormous success. He further said that prominent teaching staff and state of the art infrastructure is available at these institutes.  He congratulated the people of the state to get another prestigious educational institute like JNV and said that more JNVs will be opened in the state.

The Minister showed his satisfaction over the timely completion of the School building  and said that the government is focused on time bound completion of development projects especially in education sector.He said that Jammu and Kashmir is gradually becoming an educational hub with establishments of institutes of national importance like IIT, IIM and AIIMS and said that government is keen to set up more educational institutions in the state.The Minister said that earlier, priority was on accessibility of education but now, the priority is shifted to quality of education. He said that the present scenario of education is going through a positive change.“Educated population results to a developed nation”, the Minister said. He further said that India is a young nation and government is focused to work to tap this demographic dividend by launching various job oriented skill development schemes and programmes.“Government is working on improving transparency in education sector so that hard work will not suffer in the hands of discrimination of any kind”, he added.

The Minister said that on analyzing last few years, it can be inferred that that most of the toppers of various examinations including the civil services were from JNVs, KVs and  government schools.Giving an example of a government school at a village in Kathua, he said that last year, classrooms of the school were upgraded, computer lab was installed and an enormous increase in admissions in the school was witnessed. He said that government school has better teaching faculty but lacks infrastructure and said that government is working in improving the same.Listing the major steps taken up by the state government for improving the infrastructure and logistics facilitates in the educational institutes, Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Priya Sethi reiterated that the government shall continue to provide quality education to the students. She said that Jammu is fast emerging as an educational hub with major premiere institutes coming up.
