District Administration, Rajouri today felicitated 120 Safai-karamcharis and sanitation officials of Municipal Committee Rajouri in a function attended by the safai-karamcharis and their families.Books, stationery items and ration was distributed among the families.District Development Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary complimented the safai karamcharis for their success and expressed hope that they continue to render their dedicated services.Executive Engineer PHE Nissar Khan, Executive Engineer EM&RE Umesh Parihar, AD FCS&CA Javed Choudhary, Tehsildar Salam Din, Executive Officer MC Manzoor Lone and other officials were present on the occasion.Later, the DC held a meeting with the safai-karamcharis and took stock of their issues.Every safai-karamchari was provided with 5 Kg rice, 5KG Wheat flour, 1 Kg sugar and stationery for children. These items were provided to these workers on the festive occasion of Eid and in recognition of their enhanced sanitation drive in the town.The DDC asked the safai karamcharis to furnish the list of all the school going children of these families who will be provided books, uniforms, stationery and other support for the best possible education.
He asked the female safai-karamcharis and spouses of male karamcharis to formulate a Cooperative which will be aided and assisted by the district administration for improving their living standards.Dr Shahid further informed the karamcharis that they will be provided uniform, protective shoes and clothing as well as required equipment for their safety and hygiene.He asked the Executive Officer of Municipal Committee to project the demand to District Disaster Management Committee for these items to be provided at an earliest. He further asked the Karamcharis to come forward for skill development and avail benefits under various Government schemes for which enrolment and awareness camp will be held for them specifically.The safai-karamcharis thanked the district administration for these efforts and gesture of reaching out to them. They also assured to continue the dedicated efforts for cleanliness and sanitation of town. Issues related to scientific disposal of waste and discontinuing the current practice of burning and disposal were also discussed on the occasion.
