District Development Commissioner, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today chaired an awareness workshop on Prime Minister's Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) at Government P. G. College Rajouri .Exhorting students to avail maximum benefit under the scheme, the DC said it provides path-breaking opportunity for the students for capacity building, education, enabling and empowering them to compete in the routine academic courses besides enhancing employment opportunities for them.Dr. Shahid expressed happiness over the successful holding of awareness workshop and encouraged the students and parents to avail benefits of PMSSS, which he hoped, will help meritorious students accomplish their career dreams.He expressed gratitude to All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Department of Higher Education for organising the workshop and taking keen interest in ensuring that objectives of PMSSS are realised and students empowered.

College Rajouri, Prof. Tejinder Singh, Principal GDC Poonch, Dr. J A Qazi, Principal GDC Mendhar, Dr. Shakeel Ahmed Raina, Principal GDC Thanamandi, Altaf Hussain Chowdhary, CEO besides a large number of students from various schools and colleges, parents, officers of higher education department and members of civil society attended the workshop.Dr. Swami gave a highly informative presentation explaining in detail varied features of PMSSS, to the great benefit of the participants.During the programme, eligibility criteria, method of filling application form, role of facilitation centres and several other details of PMSSS scheme were discussed.Later, a question answer session was also organised wherein queries of the students were addressed.Prof. Shah and Dr. Ganju also spoke on the occasion and threw light on various aspects of the scheme.
