Commissioner Secretary Power Development Department, Dheeraj Gupta, Tuesday night toured various parts of Srinagar to assess the power supply position and functioning of street lights in the City.The Commissioner Secretary visited Raj Bagh, Bemina, Dalgate, Boulevard, Foreshore Road and other areas alongwith Secretary (Technical) PDD, Chief Engineer EM&RE and other concerned officers of the Department . The team took first-hand appraisal of power scenario and also interacted with the public.Later, Gupta visited Rawalpora Grid station to ascertain the progress of ongoing augmentation works wherein additional 50 MVA 132/33 kv transformer is being added to the system.  The Superintending Engineer concerned informed that the augmentation work shall be completed in a week’s time and the enhanced capacity shall be available to meet the peak hour demand for the coming holy month of Ramadan.  On spot directions were issued by the Commissioner Secretary to ensure availability of the added capacity by May 24, 2017. During the tour, he also reviewed the functioning of the street lights in the city. He directed the concerned to ensure that all the street lights are made fully functional and are put on and off at proper timings.
