DDC flags off ‘Jagrukta Rath’, stresses on making Udhampur polythene free

As a part of Swachhta Week being observed from 11th to 17th May, District Development Commissioner, Niraj Kumar flagged off a ‘Jagrukta  rath’ from DC complex, here today. Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that the Jagrukta Rath has been launched with an aim to aware the general masses about the harmful effects of Polythene and is one of the important steps taken by the Rural Development Department in the drive against the use of polythene.The DDC further said that the Rath would cover all blocks of the district and would aware the rural population about the threats that polythene poses both to Health and the Environment.Focus would also be laid on encouraging the use of biodegradable wrapping materials instead of polythene, he added.Besides, the Beopar Mandal would also be involved in this drive for making the district polythene free.The DDC said that several rallies and awareness programmes had been conducted at different places in the district in an attempt to make the district polythene free. Additional Deputy Commissioner Avny Lavasa, CPO Ashok Khajuria, ACR Subhash Chander Dogra, ACD Om Prakash ,DPO Sandeep Seointra,  AD FCS &CA  Haroon Naik ,ARTO Rajesh Gupta besides other district officers were also present on the occasion.
