Syed Altaf Bukhari visits Rakh-e-Arth, reviews relocation process of Dal dwellers

Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today visited Rakh-e-Arth in Bemina to take first hand appraisal of the works being executed on ground for the relocation of Dal dwellers. On the occasion, the Minister inspected the houses being made by NGO Kashmir Welfare Trust for which the land was given by the State Government. He was informed that the as many as 100 single-storied houses were in final stages of construction, which will be finished within a few days. Each house comprises two rooms, kitchen, bathroom and a small lobby.The Minister directed officials of LAWDA to relocate the Dal dwellers in these dwelling units by May 25 so that these families observe the fast in the holy month of Ramadan in their new homes.During his visit, various public deputations met the Minister and apprised him about their issues and grievances. He patiently listened to the grievances of people and assured that their genuine issues would be considered and redressed in a time bound manner.On the request of locals, the Education Minister announced that a primary school will be established in the locality, while as construction of dispensary would also be considered.Later, accompanied by DC Srinagar Dr Farooq Ahmed Lone, VC LAWDA and other concerned officials, Bukhari visited Flood Spill Channel in Narbal to review the status of ongoing work there.He directed the officials of executing agency to submit bar chart of work done on daily basis and asked them to expedite the pace of work and complete the project within the stipulated time.Pertinently, the Narbal Flood Spill Channel is being restored to increase its carrying capacity to avert flood threat to Srinagar.
