AAP gives government time till May 30 to wave off farmers’ loans

Raising the issue of farmers and farm laborers suicide in state, Aam Aadmi Party on Friday asked Captain Amrinder Singh led Congress government to wave off the loan as promised before elections or be ready to face the heat. Along with farmers, AAP raised the compensation issue of farm laborers.In a press statement, AAP state president and Member of Parliament, Bhagwant Mann said that as per the media more than 40 farmers have committed suicide in last 56 days of newly formed Captain Government. He said that the government apathy is the sole reason of the sorry state of peasantry in Punjab. He said that the new government has completed 2 months in the state but no road map in this regard has announced yet.Mann said that although the Congress has replaced Akali Dal in government but nothing has changed for farmer in the state.  He said that the financial condition of state cannot be an excuse to run away from the promise of waving off farm debt as Congress was aware of the conditions when it was making promises with the farmers before elections. Mann asked Captain to announce the time frame of loan waiver.Giving 2 weeks time for announcing waiver, Mann said that if the government fails to wave off loans till May 30th, AAP along with the farmers of the state will not start agitations throughout the state. Mann said that along with farmers, government must announce waiver for the farm laborer as they are totally dependent on the farming.
