Minister reviews measures for safe movement of nomads

Minister of State for Finance and Planning Ajay Nanda today said that nomads would be provided all sort of support in ensuring their uninterrupted seasonal movement from one station to another.The Minister was chairing a high level meeting with police and civil administration at Reasi.Deputy Commissioner Reasi Ravinder Kumar, DIG Reasi-Udhampur Virender Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Babu Ram, ASP Sanjay Rana, ACR Abdul Satar, Tehsildars, Dy SPs, Executive Engineers and other officers were present in the meeting.The Minister passed strict instructions to the officers for issuing permission to the people for transportation of cattle after proper verification and under rules and regulations so that apprehension of any untoward incident is avoided.

The police officers were instructed for keeping strict vigil on the activities of illegal transportation of bovines besides easing the movement of Gujjar and Bakerwals who along with their livestock usually move to upper reaches for grazing purposes.Terming incident of Zero Morh as highly unfortunate, the Minister said the act of a few anti-social elements created an unfortunate situation. In this regard, he took assurance from the police and civil administration that such type of incidents will not be allowed to happen in future.Appealing all sections of society to stay united to foil the nefarious designs of such elements, the Minister said they should not lose temper in these crucial times and maintain calm and peace. He also called for keeping a check on elements that use social media to spread rumors and create tension.Meanwhile, the Minister also took stock of the essential services like water, power and ration supply in Reasi, Pouni and Katra areas and called upon officers to ensure availability of the same.
