A delegation of Destitute and Handicapped Welfare Association (DAHWA) called on Deputy Commissioner, Niraj Kumar and presented a memorandum of demands pertaining to certain issues of pensioners besides highlighting development issues of the area.Led by DAHWA Chairperson S  S Sumbria, the delegation projected a number of demands in their charter which inter alia include providing of scooties and artificial limbs for handicapped, deployment of an additional team for preparation of Aadhar cards at block headquarter Khoon, priority to disbursement of pensions to old aged females in the age group of 70 years and above and 80 years and above for male beneficiaries, in case of death of a beneficiary the pension must be granted to the deserving person in the same tehsil, regular pension disbursement on monthly basis, grant of new enhanced pensions and the arrears as well, disposal of pensions lying pending since 2009, inclusion of DAHWA member in the Social Welfare councils being constituted in the district etc.The delegation expressed hope that all their issues would be looked into for an early redressal.Meanwhile, the DC issued on spot instructions to the concerned authorities to look into the issues raised by the delegation and initiate speedy action for disposal of the same. He also asked the concerned to organise free medical camps for destitute and handicapped people of Majalta tehsil on regular intervals.The delegation was comprised of Balram Singh, Om Parkash, P.C.Basotra, Sarita Devi, Rani Devi, Pushpa Devi and other prominent.
