District Development Commissioner Bandipora, Sajad Hussain, alongwith a team of officers inspected the bunds of River Jhelum from Shalteng to Banyari Sumbal to assess the water level and present status of the embankments.The DDC also convened a meeting of the officers of Revenue, I&FC, PHE, R&B, PDD, Health and Municipal Committee to take stock of steps to be taken by the district administration to combat any eventuality.On the occasion, the DDC impressed upon the officers to gear up their men and machinery to combat any eventuality in the area. He also issued directions for immediate augmentation of vulnerable spots of the embankments here.The meeting was informed that the I&FC has made 1 lakh sand bags available to overcome any eventualities in the area.The DDC also asked the concerned officers to ensure smooth supply of electricity, drinking water, healthcare facilities and other essential commodities to the people besides taking necessary steps for sanitation in and around the area.
