While terming the statement of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Jammu) against Rohingya and Bangladeshis refugees as inhuman, CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami Saturday urged the government to deal with the situation as per the law.“Refugee issue is always a human issue and must be dealt humanly. In our state, there are different types of refugees and they are all outcome of tragedies. The highly provocative statement of Jammu chamber smells communal and it has the potential to turn the situation communal,” he said.Terming the statement of the Jammu Chamber in which it has said that it would start the ‘Identify and Kill Movement’ against Bangladeshi and Rohingya migrants if they are not deported within one monthby the JK government, as barbaric, criminal and highly inhuman, the CPI (M) leader said, “It can create new controversies in the state. It can have serious and harmful implications for the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Government must act and charge the people who made this sort of highly provocative statement against the refugees.”“Our state has always been an abode of communal harmony. In 1947 when whole sub-continent was burning because of communal clashes, people of this state showed the world how to live in harmony?”He also urged the government to take immediate steps for the safety and security of these refugees. “It is the duty of the government to provide security to these people as they are vulnerable after such provocative statements.” (KNS)
