CEO reviews poll preparedness at Budgam

Chief Electoral Officer, Shantmanu, today convened a meeting here to review poll preparedness for Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency in the district.District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Budgam, Mir Altaf Ahmad, briefed the meeting about the arrangements made for smooth conduct of the bye-elections.He said that 547 polling stations at 414 locations have been set up, out of which 411 are hypersensitive and 136 are sensitive. He further said that the district has 456276 voters, including 3897 migrant voters, while as the EPIC coverage is 93 percent in the district.The meeting was informed that first phase of EVM training has already been completed. AROs and Nodal Officers appointed for smooth conduct of the elections also informed the meeting about various arrangements, including EVM training, communication, transport and other plans.On the occasion, the CEO commended the district administration for their pro-activeness and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements put in place. He also urged the concerned officers to ensure presence of representatives from various political parties in all exercises especially mock polls and randomization.Earlier, Chief Education Officer Budgam (Nodal Officer SVEEP) explained in detail the activities undertaken under SVEEP and exhorted upon the gathered students to exercise their franchise.
