National Conference and Congress on Wednesday addressed a joint Press Conference in Srinagar and decided to fight the upcoming Lok Sabha by-elections for Srinagar and Anantnag Segments jointly. National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah will be the candidate for the Srinagar Parliamentary Segment and PCC President .Ghulam Ahmed Mir will be the candidate for the Anantnag Parliamentary Segment.Addressing a Press Conference in Srinagar today, NC Working President Omar Abdullah and PCC President Mr. G. A. Mir said both parties had decided to contest the polls jointly in pursuit of common ideals and with an aim to confront those political forces who had wreaked havoc with the State and its political interests. “We are contesting these elections jointly to defeat those political forces whose sole focus remains to fragment this State and its people in order to derive political dividends out of such a situation. The State has been pushed into a period of instability, uncertainty, misery and chaos and it hence merits that like-minded forces should fight together to ensure the State’s interests and rights are protected at all costs”, the NC Working President said.Along with Mr. Omar Abdullah and Mr. Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Senior Leaders of National Conference and Congress including NC General Secretary Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar, NC Provincial President Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani, Senior NC Leaders Mr. Mubarak Gul, Ms. Sakina Ittoo, Party Spokesperson Junaid Mattu and Senior Congress Leaders Mr. Taj Mohuiddin, Mr. Krishen Kumar Amla and Mr. Mohammad Amin Bhat besides others attended the Press Conference.
