Secretary SWD flags off students’ tour under YEP programme

Secretary Social Welfare Department, Sajad Ahmad Khan today flagged off a group of 117 children for 13 days tour to different States of the country under the Youth Exchange Programme “Watan Ko Jano” being sponsored by the J&K Rehabilitation Council, Social Welfare Department in association with Ministry of Home Affairs, GoI.During the tour, the students would visit Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan besides other historical places of the country.Interacting with the students, Mr. Khan said such visits will help them to know culture and traditions of different States and the technological advancement taking place across the country.  He called for frequent interactions between youth of the State with rest of the country, saying exchange of ideas and cultures will help strengthening the bonds of amity and provide requisite exposure to the youth to develop their personalities. The Secretary exhorted upon the students to optimally utilize this opportunity to add to their knowledge about the culture and development scenario in different parts of the country.On the occasion, Executive Director, State Rehabilitation Council, Tazayun Mukhtar, highlighted the aim and objective of conducting such tours. She said that by getting the opportunity to visit various parts of the country, the participating youth would gain much knowledge and confidence that would ultimately help them in facing the future challenges.
