The BJP on Tuesday termed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as power hungry after the AAP-led Delhi government told the Supreme Court that it was not seeking full statehood for the national capital but more administrative powers."Kejriwal stands exposed as a power hungry leader after the affidavit his government today (Tuesday) submitted in the Supreme Court undertaking not to press for the statehood for Delhi if more powers are granted to it," the BJP's Delhi unit President Manoj Tiwari told reporters here.Attacking the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener, Tiwari said: "During the last two years Delhi has witnessed repeated hue and cry raised by Kejriwal and his party over grant of statehood to Delhi."
"He (Kejriwal) even called a special session of Delhi Assembly to raise the demand," Tiwari added. The BJP leader also said that after the rejection of a related petition by the Delhi High Court, the Kejriwal government went to the Supreme Court and "outside the court challenged other political parties including the BJP to clear their stand over statehood for the national capital".The BJP leader's remarks came after the AAP-led Delhi government told the apex court that it was not seeking full statehood for Delhi but more administrative powers, contending that a "democratically-elected government can't be subservient to the Lt. Governor".
