Dismissing as yet another farce the latest manifest of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for employees, Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh asked Arvind Kejriwal how many of his election promises he had fulfilled in Delhi in the past two and a half years.Dubbing Kejriwal as a liar who had come to Punjab after being thoroughly exposed in Delhi, Captain Amarinder said his employee manifest seemed to be an afterthought, with the AAP leader desperately grabbing every promise made by the Congress to woo the voters of Punjab.Questioning the need for multiple manifestos, and the fact that AAP had chosen to come out with another election manifesto less than 10 days before polling date, Captain Amarinder said Kejriwal’s employee manifesto was another case of replication of the Congress promises as neither he nor his party were even aware of the issues afflicting the people of Punjab.Kejriwal has, once again, simply lifted most of the Congress manifesto promises to employees, just as he had done earlier in the case of farmers and other sections of the society, said Captain Amarinder.
The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president asked Kejriwal how many of his promises made to the people of Delhi had been implemented by AAP. The employees in Delhi were having a tough time under the AAP leadership, with no efforts by the Kejriwal government to address their issues and problems, he added.Captain Amarinder pointed out that the national capital had been reduced to a garbage city due to strike by the municipal corporation workers over payment issues, while teachers had been victimized by the Kejriwal government’s decision to pass a legislation in Delhi assembly reducing their salaries. In fact, he said, Kejriwal had thoroughly exposed himself as a liar in Delhi and was not trying to mislead the people of Punjab. “Is that what he is promising to the employees of Punjab,” asked Captain Amarinder, adding that Kejriwal had failed to keep any of his promises in Delhi and had no intention of implementing his manifesto in Punjab. His manifestos were merely aimed at offering sops to the electorate to get some votes in the ensuring assembly polls, said the PPCC chief.
