Additional Director General of Police Headquarters (ADGP), Mr. V. K. Singh today convened senior police officers meeting at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today to discuss arrangements for 28th Police Public Mela. The Mela, which was scheduled to be held in Srinagar during summer could not held due to engagement on other fronts, would now be held  at Jammu in last week of February this year.At the outset of the meeting, Mr. VK Singh sought reports with regard to the arrangements put in place for smooth conduct of the Mela. He discussed the arrangements in thread bare and asked the participants to work in coordination with each other making the grand event a success.   ADGP, addressing the meeting said that during the past few years, Police Public Mela has assumed much popularity among the masses and the people across the state have been seen anxious for the grand event. He stressed to introduce more items in the Mela representing different regions of the State to make the event attractive for the public. He also asked the officers to keep the unsold raffle draw tickets available at the venue on Mela day for sale. He said that the computerization of tickets needs to be ensured to make the process transparent.                

The meeting decided that the stall holders from various police establishments would reach to Jammu before three days of the event to establish their stalls at the identified space at the venue. They would ensure to display their items in a befitting manner. ADGP asked the designated officers to check the quality of the goods to be displayed for sale and ensure reasonable rates. He said that the event provides an opportunity to the public to get different items of different regions of the state under one roof. He also said that amusement and cultural items would be a part of Mela to entertain the participants.The meeting discussed security, police bandbust, traffic and sanitation in around the venue and decided that the committees constituted for the purpose would coordinate and chalk out a comprehensive plan while making the required arrangements.AIG (Welfare), Dr. Haseeb Mughal, through power point presentation apprised the meeting about the arrangements made for smooth conduct of Mela in winter capital. He also informed about different assigments of the committees constituted for the purpose.Among others, the meeting was attended by ADsGP, Dilbag Singh and AK Choudhary, IsGP, MS Salaria, Yoginder Koul, Alok Puri, MA Khan, Rajesh Kumar, MA Ganai, JP Singh and Johny William, DIsGP, Alok Kumar and AA Wani, AIsGP, JA Koul, Sheikh Junaid Mehmood, Kulbir Singh and BA Shah, SSsP, Sunil Kumar, Mohan Lal, Ashok Kumar, Rohit Sharma, Med. Supdt, Dr. Wasiq Rasool and other police officers.
