Reaching out to the people of what he described as his 'nanka', Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder on Monday promised to throw into jail all those, including the Badals and their relative Majithia, who are found guilty of ruining the state with drugs and mafia. In a hard-hitting speech at a public rally in Lehra, where a massive crowd waited for him for hours, with their spirits undampened despite the delay in his arrival due to bad weather, Captain Amarinder apologized for reaching late but said he had to keep his date with the region, from where his `sister’ Rajinder Kaur Bhattal was contesting. With thousands of people cheering him as he asked them, without mincing words, “babe (Badal) nu kuttan, ya na kuttan?” {should I or shouldn’t I thrash Baba?}, Captain Amarinder declared that now that he had the permission of his 'nanke' he would have to beat Badal square and hard in Lambi, which he had chosen to make his 'karambhoomi'.Pointing out that 'chitta' had killed thousands of Punjab’s children, and citing Maqboolpura in Amritsar as an example of the devastation wreaked by drugs leaving only widows and children in the entire village, Captain Amarinder asserted that all those responsible for the drug menace would be brought to book, with not even the Badals and Majithia being spared if found guilty. They will all be dealt with in four weeks of the next Congress government taking over the state, he said, declaring that “asi unh saban nunh lamba pa dewange.

"Describing the Akali Dal as a 'mafia party', Captain Amarinder promised to take away all the buses currently under Badals’ control and give them to the unemployed youth of the state.Referring to the incidents of religious sacrilege in the state, Captain Amarinder promised to bring all those found guilty, including the Badals, to book. “Saade Guru Granth Sahib, saadi Geeta aur saade Quran Sharif di beadbi karan walan nunh asi maaf nahin karange,” he thundered as the crowd broke out into loud cheers.Referring to the large number of farmer suicides in the southern region of the state, Captain Amarinder said the Badal government had failed to do anything for the farmers but his party was committed to waiving off their loans and rescuing them from the devastation into which they had been plunged by the current dispensation. He pointed out that the Congress manifesto, which had the seal of approval of former Prime Minister and world-renowned economist Dr Manmohan Singh, had addressed the problem of the farmers in much detail.Captain Amarinder expressed concern over the prevailing lawlessness in the state, observing that the DGP himself had admitted to 52 armed gangs being on the loose, which had been brought to the notice of the Election Commission and had led to the largest deployment of paramilitary forces in Punjab among all the five poll-bound states.Earlier, welcoming Captain Amarinder, Bhattal described him as the saviour of Punjab’s water, who had done a lot for the development of the area, in contrast with the Badals who were busy looting the state and promoting their family interests. She said she would request the next chief minister of the state to declare Lehra a district to ensure its proper development.
