BCKMU delegation calls on Ganga, Demands opening of new coal mines

With the objective of apprising the Minister about their demands and grievances, a delegation of Bharatiya Coal Kahn Mazdoor Union (BCKMU) called on the Minster for Industries & Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga, here today.The demands of the BCKMU deputation included opening of new coal mines, regularization of contractual & casual workers, release of pending Dearness Allowance (DA), conducting Department Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings regularly, clearance of appointments under SRO 43, release of 6th Pay Commission arrears and vacation of land being illegally encroached at Kalakote coal mines. In the meeting, Ganga issued directions for constitution of an expert team to conduct survey and study the possibility of establishment of coal mines in the State. He further directed the concerned for constitution of Department Promotion Committee as early as possible.The Minister said that the present dispensation is committed for the welfare of its employees and it will leave no stone unturned to ensure that they get their due right. Later, he assured them that that their issues would be redressed in a time bound manner.Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department Shailendra Kumar, MD Jammu & Kashmir Minerals Limited Abid Suhail, Director, Geology & Mining Department Farooq Ahmad Khan and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
