Fire damages twin buildings housing Para-military Forces in Karan Nagar

Two buildings house Indian Para-military Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Karan Nagar area of Srinagar city were gutted in a fire incident, however, the timely action from the Fire and Emergency Service Department managed to avert the tragedy who shifted the dumping ammunition to a safer place.Eyewitnesses told news agency CNS that clouds of smoke were seen rising from a building during morning hours while fire spread to another building too that were housing CRPF. A police official said that the cause of fire was not immediately known, however reliable sources said that fire caused due to short-circuit possibly by using a couple of boilers on the same passing electric line. Fire according to sources created panic inside the camp while troopers were seen moving to safer places along with their belongings.“Ten fire tenders were put to service as lot of ammunition was stored in the cantonment. The ammunition was shifted from the camp immediately and by the grace of Almighty no explosions took place and lives were saved,” said Muhammad Akbar, Deputy Director Fire and Emergency Services Kashmir.
