Castigating Bhartiya Janata Party for maintaining that West Pakistan Refugees have every right to stake a claim on citizenship of Jammu and Kashmir, former Minister and senior National Conference leader Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal Monday said that if BJP is sincere and concerned about the welfare of these refugees then this party should settle them in any other state of India. He said that the move to issue ‘Domicile Certificates’ to these refugees will hit both Kashmiri Muslims and Dogras of Jammu. Pertinently, BJP state General Secretary (organization), Ashok Koul has said that since these refugees had been living in different parts of the Jammu region since 1947, they had every right to stake a claim on citizenship like other residents of the state.“The agitation of separatist leaders and people of Kashmir on this issue is justified.

PDP that was the brainchild of BJP is now helping India to erode the contents of Article 370. The Dogras of Jammu should also stage protest against BJP move as it will also affect them,” Kamal told CNS.He said that these refugees can be settled in any part of the country. “Why the BJP is keen to settle them in Jammu only. The evil intentions of both BJP and PDP are clear and people must resist every evil move of the incumbent State Government,” he said and added that BJP has adopted a new strategy under which it wants to make inroads in Jammu and Kashmir through its judiciary.“National Conference will not hesitate to take extreme position if BJP and PDP don’t stop tampering with the special starus of Jammu and Kashmir,” Kamal said.
