Former minister and MLA Amirakadal Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Saturday congratulated Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo for being elected as President of Kashmir Editors Guild, the prestigious editors body in Kashmir.In his congratulatory message, Bukhari, who is outside State has praised the contribution of Kaloo more particularly for establishing the Greater Kashmir and Kashmir Uzma which gave a new direction to print journalism in the State.Bukhari said that Kaloo is known to him for his rare qualities of head and heart. “He is a legendary who has set up high ethics of journalism in Kashmir. He is simply a doyen of modern journalism in J&K State.”The MLA Amirakadal said that Kaloo’s taking over as the president of prestigious body of editors in Kashmir will surely strengthen the institution of Fourth Estate in the state. “Fayaz sahib deserved this honor for his immense contribution in the field of journalism in Kashmir. It was because of his dedication and undaunted spirit that he created an institution which has become a household name across the state,” Bukhari remarked.

While praying for more success and recognition for the Editor-in-Chief of Greater Kashmir, he said that Kaloo’s nomination to the Editors Guild of India last year was also in recognition of his pioneering efforts to establish the first English language daily in Kashmir.Bukhari has also extended his felicitations to Bashir Manzar, Chief Editor, Kashmir Images, Tahir Mohi-ud-Din, Chief Editor, Chattan for being elected General Secretaries of KEG. “I congratulate Masood Hussain, Editor Kashmir Life, Haroon Rashid Shah, Executive Editor Nidai-e-Mashriq and Shafat Kira, Editor, Kashmir Vision for being elected as Secretary General, Organizer-cum-Treasurer and Spokesperson of the Guild respectively.”Bukhari also extended his best wishes to members of the executive committee of Kashmir Editors Guild including Ghulam GeelaniQadri - Editor Afaaq, Zahoor Hashmi- Editor Aftab, Bashir Ahmad Bashir- Editor Srinagar Times, Sajjad Haider- Editor Kashmir Observer, Shamim Mehraj- Editor Kashmir Monitor, Dr. Shujaat Bukhari- Editor Rising Kashmir, Manzoor Anjum, Editor Uqab, Haji Hayat- Editor Kashmir Reader, Zahoor Ahmad Malik- Resident Editor Kashmir Times and Raja Mohiuddin- Editor Tameel-e-Irshad.
