At least 33 pro-government soldiers were killed and more than 40 injured when a suicide bomber targeted a military base near the airport in Aden city on Saturday, security officials said."A suicide attacker targeted dozens of pro-government soldiers who gathered to receive their delayed salaries inside the Sulban military base near Aden's airport," Xinhua news agency quoted a local security source as saying on condition of anonymity.Initial reports indicate that at least 33 newly-trained soldiers were killed and more than 40 injured in the suicide bombing that struck Saudi-backed Yemeni soldiers in Aden.

Witnesses confirmed that "a huge explosion struck the military base while hundreds of soldiers were standing to meet a military committee in the area"."A suicide bomber apparently disguised in military uniform blew himself up among scores of soldiers who lined up around the base without any protection," an intelligence source said. Many ambulances were dispatched to the scene after the suicide blast, and heavy armoured vehicles arrived on the scene. The southern port city of Aden is the headquarters of Yemen's internationally-backed President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi and his government.
