Secretary Tribal Affairs Department, Mr Surabh Bhagat today reviewed the progress of various centrally sponsored schemes like SCA to TSP, Vanbandu Kalyan Yojana, pre-matric/post-matric scholarships, Tribal Research Institute, Tribal Hostels etc. The Secretary interacted with all the District Development Commissioners through video-conferencing and sought the details of the physical and financial achievements recorded in the tribal sector under various centrally sponsored schemes.The Secretary informed the DDCs that the Government of India has approved a five-fold hike in the budget of the Centrally Sponsored Schemes for the current fiscal taking the allocation to Rs 100 crores from Rs 20 crore.The Secretary asked the DDCs to increase the pace of the work on all the ongoing projects and submit utilization certificates to Administrative Department so that further funds are released and benefits accrue to the tribal people.He said the Chief Minister who is also holding the charge Tribal Affairs Department has approved the new scheme “Cluster Model Villages” on which Rs 10 crore will be incurred in two years and thrust will be on construction of new PHCs/NTPHCs/AD centres and new school buildings in Tribal areas of the State. Besides, tribal youth will be imparted skill training and as a part of this initiative, the Tribal Affairs Department will be sending 100 tribal youth each from Rajouri and Poonch for vocational training on pilot basis. Other schemes about construction of Eklavaya Residential Model Schools, 16 number new hostels and IAS coaching for tribal youth were also discussed.
