With an aim to implement the orders and direction of the High Court in letter and spirit on safeguarding school buildings, the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Mr. Baseer Ahmad Khan today convened a meeting to review watch and ward of schools.Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, Chief Education Officers and other concerned officers were present in the meeting, while as Deputy Commissioners of all the districts of the valley and District SSPs participated in the meeting through video conferencing.While reviewing the security measures, the Divisional Commissioner was informed that all necessary arrangements regarding safeguarding school buildings have been put in place besides special control rooms have been established at zonal, district and directorate level to avoid any untoward incident. 

To ensure strict vigil during night hours, LED bulbs have been procured by the DSEK and will be distributed to all the schools soon. Similarly, precautionary measures like installation of water tanks, spades, buckets and sand deposits have been done in advance.Addressing the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner asked District SSPs to conduct random checks in the schools of their respective areas. He directed officials to ensure proper coordination and rectify loopholes regarding the protection of schools.Baseer Ahmad Khan also directed concerned to provide regular update regarding the safety and security of schools. He also said assessment of the overall situation should be done by DSEK and CEOs, who shall brief the concerned DCs and the SSPs.
