Hustle and bustle returns in Srinagar city along with other parts in Kashmir on Saturday as the separatists’ camp have called for a two-day relaxation in their weekly shutdown calendars.City centre areas including commercial hub Lal Chowk, Rambagh, Jawahar Nagar, Jahangir Chowk, Dalgate and its adjacent areas witnessed huge rush of shoppers.Shops were opened in the morning while as street vendors have instilled their stocks early in the morning to get space on the streets to sell their stocks.However at various places street vendors have instilled their stocks on road sides which lead to traffic jams at various areas in the city. Witnesses told KNS “Huge rush of people were witnessed in business hub Lal Chowk while as shoppers thronged to city markets to buy essential commodities.”“Shoppers were seen purchasing the winter collections like sweater, blankets, jackets, thermal wears and other things,” they added.

Meanwhile, massive traffic jam was witnessed at commercial hub Lal Chowk, Jahangir Chowk, Aimra Kadal and other places as well.However, witnesses said that traffic cops swung into action and managed to freed jam packed roads.A commuter Shafat Ahmad told KNS, “Due to massive traffic jam I got off from the vehicle at Jahangir Chowk and came by foot to Lal Chowk.”Notably, the business and other establishments in the Valley remained closed due to the present uprising in the Valley that triggered following the killing of Hizb commander Burhan Wani in a gunfight in Bumdoora village of Kokernag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on July 8 of this year. Meanwhile, separatists in their last two weekly protest calendars have issued a two-day relaxation. Following the relaxation call given by the separatist leadership, the markets across the Valley opened for today. (KNS)
