Srinagar , 18 Nov 2016

Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that Since July this year the Anti Islam state Government is preventing people from offering obligatory Friday prayers at the historic and central Jamia Masjid of Srinagar. Like a battleground the state fortifies the Masjid and the areas around it with its armed Forces and declares a war against Muslims who want to offer prayers there. The shameless state arrests and jails anyone who heading the call of faith dares to defy this anti Islam policy and tries to offer prayers there. Mirwaiz said the assault on people’s religious rights and obligations is a way of punishing them and causing grief to their religious sentiments. He said Kashmiris today are resurgent nations who have braved all forms of oppression and such acts further strengthen their determination for self assertion and desire for freedom.Appealing the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Imams of Harmain Sharifian, Ulemas, scholars and religious organizations world over, the Mirwaiz said they should raise their voice against the abject situation of human, religious and political rights of people of Kashmir and state terrorism unleashed upon them and play their role in supporting their demand for self determination and ending of oppression.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat spokesman denounced the continued house arrest of the APHC Chairman since his release from jail. The spokesman said that no one is allowed to meet the Mirwaiz and all individuals and delegations who want to meet him are send away.Hurriyat (M) also condemned the arrests and house arrests of Hurriyat leaders including Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam, Engineer Hilal Ahmad War, other resistance leaders, and political and religious activists and thousands of freedom-loving youth and condemned the government forces for carrying night raids, beating up of residents and ransacking household items at Rohama Rafiabad while arresting 10 persons including two brothers.
