Chairman LC calls for comprehensive roadmap to promote Kargil as tourist destination

Chairman J&K Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali today called for a comprehensive roadmap to promote Kargil as an international tourist destination. While chairing a meeting to discuss issues related to uplift of tourism sector in Kargil district, Haji Anayat said there is a need to devise a comprehensive policy so that Kargil is brought on the world tourism map. He said a proper roadmap needs to be followed to achieve this goal. While directing the officials to frame a comprehensive tourism policy, Chairman called for formation of a Tourism Promotion Board in the district and said that experts in the field of tourism will be hired to give proper advice to the district officials in making a comprehensive tourism promotion policy. Meeting highlighted the need to preserve and promote the local culture and heritage while highlighting the need to and develop Chiktan Razi-Khar. 

In this regard, it was decided that a detailed project report would be prepared and presented to the government at earliest. The meeting also discussed the preparation of annual OTM to be held in Mumbai in February 2017. The Chairman and CEC took stock of preparation and it was directed that all preparation must be finalized by Ist week of February 2017.The Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil assured the members of the meeting that all possible steps would be taken to promote Kargil as a tourist destination.The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC, Kargil Kachoo Ahmad Ali Khan, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Haji Gulzar Hussain members of All Kargil Travel Trade Association and various prominent citizens of Kargil besides other Officers of the district.
