The Indian supremacy remained intact in the World Cup Kabaddi as both men and women teams clinched the world titles for sixth and fifth time respectively. In the final matches played at the Multipurpose Sports Stadium in Jalalabad in Fazilka district, the Indian men team defeated England by 62-20, while the Indian eves defeated USA by 45-10. In the third place matches, USA defeated Iran by 43-38 and in women section, New Zealand defeated Kenya by 42-21.Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was the chief guest for the grand finale, while Deputy CM Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal presided over the function and Tanzania officiating High Commissioner Mr Mohammad Hiza Mohammad was the guest of honour. During the 5th World Cup Kabaddi matches, Deputy CM Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal, who is also MLA from Jalalabad constituency, had promised with the people that the finals of 6th World Cup Kabaddi would be held at Jalalabad.

The Indian men team won itself a cash prize of Rs 2 crore, England team won Rs 1 crore and USA won Rs 50 lakh, while in women section, Indian eves won a cash prize of Rs 1 crore, USA won Rs 50 lakh while New Zealand won Rs 25 lakh as cash prize.In the final match of men section played between India vs England in the jam packed multipurpose sports stadium, the Indian team defeated the European side by a big margin of 62-20. For India, raiders Sultan and Sandeep scored 10 points each, while stopper Khushi secured 16 points and Gupreet Singh Gopi Manki secured 5 points for their team. For England, raiders Narwinder Bagga scored 5 and Gurdit Badhesha scored 4, while stoppers Sandeep Sandhu Nangal Ambia secured 4 points.In the finals of women section, the Indian eves defeated USA by 45-10. For India, raiders Suman Gill, Sukhjinder Kaur and Harwinder Kaur scored 6, 5 and 4 points respectively and stoppers Randeep Kaur secured 6 while Mandeep Kaur Chhina secured 5 points. Similarly, for USA, raiders Guramrit Kaur Hari Khalsa scored 3 points and stoppers Candice and Maya secured 2 and 1 point respectively.

In the third place match of men section, USA defeated Iran by 43-38. For USA, raiders Inderdeep and Baljit Balli scored 11 and 9 points while stoppers Navpreet Singh Johal secured 8 and Gurman Malhi and Harjinder secured 3 points each. For Iran, raiders Shayan scored 8 points and Benam and Meysam scored 5 points each and stoppers Hamid and Alireza secured 6 and 4 points respectively.Similarly in third place match of women section, New Zealand defeated Kenya by 42-21. For New Zealand, raiders Paresi scored 8, Jayla scored 6 and Mary scored 4 points and stoppers Cathlyn, Tayla Ford and Mary secured 6, 5 and 4 points respectively. For Kenya, raiders Sofia and Lilian scored 6 and 5 points respectively and stoppers Massi and Camila secured 5 and 3 points respectively.Prominent among those present on the occasion included Punjab Health Minister Mr Surjit Kumar Jyani, MLA Mr Gurtej Singh Ghuriana, Deputy CM’s OSD Mr Satinderjit Singh Manta, Sports Department Secretary Mr VP Singh, Director Mr Rahul Gupta, Punjab Kabaddi Association Senior Vice President Mr Tajinder Singh Middukhera, Deputy CM’s Special Principal Secretary Mr Manvesh Singh Sidhu, Deputy Commissioner Mrs Isha Kalia, SSP Mr Narinder Bhargava, Assistant Director Sports Mr Kartar Singh Sehambay, besides several others.
