As 95% attendance was here on Monday recorded in the incident free examination of class 12 on the day one across Kashmir, the Director General Police (Law & Order) Dr S.P Vaid confirmed that the incident free examinations were reported from all over the valley and congratulate the people for their cooperation in the conduct of examinations all over the valley.Reports said amid heightened security, at least 95 per cent of class 12 students appeared in the examinations on Monday. Officials told KNS that a huge contingent of forces including police and paramilitary troopers were deployed in and around the examination centres since the wee hours of this morning to ensure smooth conduct of examinations.Meanwhile, nearly 95 per cent of class 12 students appeared in the examinations today, officials said.They said that out of total 31964 students who were scheduled to appear in the examinations today, 30213 students sit in examinations at around 484 exam centres in the Valley.Officials informed that the highest number of participation of students was witnessed in South Kashmir Anantnag district. “At least 96 per cent of class 12 students appeared in the examination in South Kashmir’s Anantnag today which was followed by central Kashmir’s Srinagar district where more than 94 per cent students appeared in the examinations,” they informed.Witnesses told KNS that the worried parents whose wards appeared in the examinations today were waiting for their wards outside the exam centres.
They said that huge contingent of forces were deployed in and around the exam centres. Officials informed KNS that no untoward incident occurred at any examination centre today. Director General Police (Law & Order) Dr S.P Vaid when contacted told KNS “the examinations conducted today went incident free. At some examination center students had some issue but BOSE officials resolved issues very patiently in consultation with the students and the parents. We congratulate all particularly students, parents and the supervisory staff deployed for supervising the examination for their cooperation in the smooth conduct of examination”.Meanwhile, the students who appeared in the examinations today appreciated the Board of School Education (BOSE) for announcing reduction in the syllabus today as according to them the government decision provided them a lot of assistance in today’s examinations. “. The question papers were set by the officials according to syllabus and it was quite easy paper today while the announcement of reduction in syllabus provided us a lot of assistance as due to the uprising in the Valley we had not completed our syllabus,” they said.
Asking about the security arrangements, the students said that security arrangements made by the government were quite well. The students said that officials from BOSE also visited the centres who also instructed them during the exams.However, some of the students termed the reduction in syllabus as ‘false’ and said that the question paper was set by the authorities like previous year’s paper.Pertinently, the students were taking to streets against the government decision of holding examination in this year and were demanding deferment of exams.Besides, students the mainstream opposition parties were also demanding deferment of exams till the students won’t complete their syllabus.Notably, the students of class 10 are scheduled to appear in the exams on Tuesday.Officials said that the adequate security arrangements will also be made on Tuesday to ensure smooth conduct of exams.
