In order to provide better road connectivity to the people living in the border areas, Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today kick started black topping works of two border roads from R S Pura to Chakroi and Chakroi to Jhora Farm having a length of 7.5 km and 4.5 km respectively. The projects are being constructed under City and Town roads connectivity scheme at an total estimated cost of Rs 3.45 crore.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the government is committed to provide better road connectivity to the people of rural areas and especially those residing in border  areas.“People of border areas are facing tough time these days and it is the duty of the government to provide basic amenities at their doorsteps”, the Minister said adding that a comprehensive plan has been formulated for up-gradation and expansion of basic facilities to the people of residing on border.The Minister said that strengthening and up-gradation of road network throughout the state is one of the top-most priorities of the Government and hundreds of km of road have been black topped with improved specifications to ensure better riding surface and durability. He said that the State government stands committed to provide all basic amenities to the people of the State at their doorsteps.The Minister said that the people have shown faith in the government and also have great expectations which government is committed to deliver in the shape of overall development of the state especially of the rural and far flung areas.Later, the Minister chaired a meeting of officers of PWD (R&B) department and directed them to complete the work within the stipulated time and ensure quality of work strictly as per the new specifications.The Minister further asked them to ensure that the local populace faces minimum difficulties during the execution of development works.He also sought cooperation of the people in implementing the development programme on ground level.
