Union Food Processing Minister Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal today announced that Bathinda Airport would become operational on 4 December and Malwa region would witness air connectivity with the rest of the country vis-à-vis opening new vistas for the region.While interacting with media persons here after laying foundation stone of Rs. 2808.65 crore parking complex on Mall Road, the Union Minister accompanied by MLA Mr. Sarup Chand Singla, said that the Bathinda airport was ready to operate flights. She said that first flight would be witnessed on 4 December as the requisite discussions had been finalized with all authorities concerned. She said that air connectivity would be a new milestone of development in the region. The Union Minister also informed that foundation stone of All India Institute of Medical Sciences would also be laid soon.Answering media queries Mrs. Badal informed that this parking complex would be equipped with all basic amenities with a completion time of 18 months. She said that it was long pending demand of Bathinda residents to have parking complex in view of traffic chaos on the busy road of the city.

The Union Minister also inaugurated Main Pumping Station in Canal Colony built at a cost of Rs. 40.15 crore, which would provide sewerage amenities to residents of Paras Ram Nagar, Sanguana Basti, Lal Singh Basti, Surkhpeer Road, Multania Road, Jogi Nagar, Amarpura Basti, Gopal Nagar and areas across railway lines. She said that this project would prove a boon by providing modern sewerage facilities.Later on, Mrs. Badal also laid the foundation stone of 4.5 M.L.D capacity Sewerage Treatment Plant on Goniana Road. She said that this project would be completed in 12 months by providing sewerage facilities to the residents of Kothe Sucha Singh, Kartar Colony, Mandir Colony, Guru Nanak Colony, Vishvas Nagar, Kheta Singh Basti, Adarsh Nagar etc. She said that this project would be completed at a cost of Rs. 45 crore.Earlier, the Union Minister also distributed more than 250 sewing machines under Nanhi Chaan campaign at village Dhelwan and Community Center Model Town Phase-1 Bathinda.Prominent amongst other present on the occasion included Mayor Mr. Balwant Rai Nath, Senior Deputy Mayor Mr. Tarsem Goyal, Deputy Mayor Mrs. Gurvinder Kaur Mangat etc.
