Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today reviewed the progress of the martyrs’ memorials besides the Harpal Tiwana Academy of Performing Arts Patiala, Ishmeet Music Academy Ludhiana and Maharaja Dalip Singh Memorial at village Raikot Bassian in Ludhiana district.  

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that Mr. Badal asked the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) agencies i.e. GMADA in case of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur War Memorial, GLADA for Ishmeet Music Academy and Maharaj Dalip Singh Memorial, PDA for Harpal Tiwana Academy and Wadda Ghallughara Martyrs Memorial Kup Rohira in Sangrur district and ADA for Chhota Ghallughara Kahnuwan Chhambh Shaheedi Memorial to take over the possession of these memorials from the PWD (B&R) department.  The Chief Minister also asked the concerned officers to chalk out a time bound action program to ensure smooth and hassle free functioning of these memorials.  He also asked the Secretary Tourism and Cultural Affairs Dr. Karamjit Singh Sra to launch a media campaign to acquaint people about the historical importance of these projects.  

The Chief Minister assured the implementation agencies that paucity of funds would not be allowed to create any hurdle in the completion of these prestigious projects.  He categorically asked the General Manager of L&T Mr. Rama Krishan to hand over physical possession of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur War Memorial to GMADA positively by the end of February.  Mr. Badal also directed his Special Principal Secretaries Mr. KJS Cheema and Mr. KS Pannu to personally visit at the memorial sites to accelerate the pace of activities relating to the handing over of the memorials to the concerned O&M agencies.  

Prominent amongst others who attended the meeting included Architect of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur War Memorial Ms. Renu Khanna, Chief Engineer Mr. CL Singla, CA GMADA Mr. Sarbjit Singh, CA PUDA Mr. AS Miglani and Secretary Expenditure Mr. Vivek Partap Singh.
