’We should always  remember our  brave soldiers who laid down  their lives to uphold the sovereignty and integrity of  our motherland and it is because of their  supreme sacrifices that our borders are secure , law and order is maintained 24x7  while  peace and tranquility  prevails in our lives’.Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh said this while speaking at a Programme organized on National Police Day by Jammu and Kashmir Police at Gulshan Ground on Friday.Vice Chairman Kissan Adsvisory Board, D.S Chib was also present on the occasion.Deputy Chief Minister while  recalling  the act of bravery of the soldiers  who sacrificed their lives for the motherland said that  it is this bravery , patriotism and ‘Do or Die’ spirit  of our  brave soldiers , for upholding the integrity and unity of our country that we  feel secure and safe in our homes .He also said that this programme is celebrated every year on 21st October as National Police day after the daring and death embracing supreme sacrifice of Sub Inspector Karan Singh and his team at China Ladakh border on this day in 1996 adding that this day reminds us of the sacrifices of our soldiers   bearing different colours and ranks.Security personnel from Police, Sashastra Seema Bal, CRPF, CISF, BSF throughout the country are being remembered on this day for their supreme sacrifice to maintain safety and security of the country,  Dy CM added.The Deputy Chief Minister also met  the family members of soldiers and listened to their problems and gave  directions to the concerned for expeditious redressal of  their concerns.IG Police, Danish Rana read out the name of 473 matyrs from police and other paramilitary organizations like BSF, SSB, CRPF , CISF , who were martyred last year.Later the Deputy Chief Minister also inaugurated a blood donation camp wherein 115 people among senior officers participated.
