Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment Choudhary Lal Singh today said peace is imperative for speedy development and sought people’s cooperation to take forward unprecedented development activities started in every nook and corner of the state. Interacting with people at a Public Grievances Redressal Camp held here at Trikuta Nagar, he said numerous projects have been launched in the core sectors  like PHE, PDD, R&B, UEED, Health and Education to provide safe drinking water, electricity, road connectivity, better sewerage, education and health services to the people in their respective areas.Member Legislative Assembly Rajesh Gupta, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests A K Singh, Chairman J&K Pollution Control Board Ravi Kesar,  Chief Wildlife Warden Suresh Chugh, Project Chief IWDP P K Singh, Director Social Forestry Arun Kumar Tickoo, Director Ecology, Environment and Remotes O P Sharma, Chief Conservator of Forests Roshan Jaggi, Managing Director State Forest Corporation S K Gupta, Director Forest Protection Force Rajiiv Tiwari, Director SFRI B M Sharma, Chief Conservator Eco Tourism A K Gupta, Joint Director Forest Protection Force Kh Qamar-ud-Din besides Executive Engineers of PHE, PDD, R&B, RDD and Divisional Forest Officers of Territorial and Wild Life present on the occasion.

The Minister said that Government is making all out efforts to beautify the surroundings of the city of temples by developing river Tawi banks,   cable car project from Bahu Fort to Peer Kho and revival of pristine glory of heritage sites.  “To remove traffic congestion in Bikram Chowk instructions have been issued to concerned agency to complete the flyover from Bikram Chowk to Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar within stipulated time frame” Choudhary Lal Singh said.He also referred to several multi-tier parking projects taken up in the city to ease traffic congestion in busy areas Choudhary Lal Singh informed that Government has started the construction work on 3-storeyed Municipal Commercial Complex at Katra at an estimated cost of Rs. 7.94. crore. He said the complex would have facilities like Shops, Food Courts and office complex of Municipal Committee Katra. 

He said directions have been issued to Director Local Bodies to gear up the efforts and complete the project within stipulated time frame.In order to attract domestic and foreign tourists towards city of temples, the Minister said that focused attention to exploite the varied tourism potential of Jammu division. He said that a number of measures have been taken to develop new tourism spots and conservation of century old monuments of the region like Mubarak Mandi and Shri Maha Kali Temple in Bahu Fort.A large number of people of Trikuta Nagar and its adjoining areas met the Minister and projected their demands like upgrading of power infrastructure, drinking water, renovation of lanes and drains and blacktopping of locality roads etc.Choudhary Lal Singh gave a patient hearing to them and issued instructions to the concerned departments to solve the projected problems on priority basis without any delay.
