District Development Commissioner, Pulwama Muneer-ul-Islam today convened a meeting of officers and executing agencies of Rural Development Department to review the progress achieved in all CD blocks.Threadbare discussions were held in the meeting regarding expenditure incurred, achievements and works under progress. While deliberating upon the role of Rural Development Department in achieving the new heights of development in rural areas the District Development Commissioner, impressed upon the concerned for maintaining the norms and works to be completed within the stipulated time frame so that rural population is able to get the benefits of the schemes of the department. He sought suggestions from the VLWs for the future course of action.District Development Commissioner urged all the Gram Rozgar Saveks and VLWs present in the meeting to put vigorous efforts to prepare innovative projects to achieve tangible results. He directed the Block Development Officers to complete the estimation of the projects in their respective blocks so that these can be executed on ground.
The District Development Commissioner stressed on the inclusion of convergence mode projects. He stressed upon the need to complete all the works within stipulated time and to ensure the quality of work undertaken and for proper utilization of funds. Giving brief account of physical and financial achievements registered under Rural Development schemes through a PowerPoint Presentation, the ACD informed that the department has issued 42555 job cards to rural labour and 90000 mandays have been generated in all 11 CD blocks till August 2016. A total of 1112 works have been taken up under MGNREGA with an estimated cost of 1457 lakh.Taking stock of the progress under Indira Awas Yojna (IAY), the meeting was informed that the beneficiaries have been identified for the next 5 years and the data has already been taken up for digitization. Assistant Commissioner Development, District Panchayat officer, all BDOs, JEs, GRS’ and VLWs were present in the meeting.
