Generation Global, a project of the Tony Blair Foundation, will team up with J&K’s Education Department to inculcate innovative teaching and learning skills among the teachers and the students in the State.This was announced at a meeting of the representatives of Generation Global with the State’s Education Minister Mr Naeem Akhtar here today.The four-member team of Generation Global comprised Mr Matthew Lawrence - Director of Programmes, Dr Ian Jamison - Head of Education, Milo Comerford –Analyst and Foundation’s Asia Coordinator, Sandhya Gupta.Commissioner Secretary Education, Mr Shailen Kabra and Director School Education Kashmir were also present at the meeting.It was announced in the meeting that the joint pilot programme of the Generation Global and the Education Department to be launched later this year would focus on teacher training and connecting JK’s students to their counterparts within and outside the country.Pertinently, Generation Global is a programme for schools operating in over 20 countries. It provides teachers with training in a range of innovative classroom practices to give their students the critical 21st century skills of dialogue and thinking.Through this programme students will be connected through videoconferencing with their peers from around the world; learning directly from other young people, while teaching them about their own experiences. The programme has been running in India since 2009.
