The Election Commission of India (ECI) has revised the schedule of Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls in all Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies in the State with January 1, 2017 as the qualifying date.According to a notification issued today by Chief Electoral Officer, the draft publication of electoral rolls in Kashmir Division would be made on October 31, 2016 and in Jammu Region and Ladakh area on September 30 2016, whereas period of filing of claims and objections would be from October 31 to November 30, 2016 in Kashmir and from September 30 to October 31, 2016 in Jammu region and Ladakh area. Similarly, reading of relevant part/section of photo electoral rolls in Gram Sabha/local bodies, and RWA meeting and verification of names would be done from November 05, 2016 to November 19, 2016 in Kashmir Division and from October 01, 2016 to October 10, 2016 in Jammu region and Ladakh area.
Special campaign with booth level agents of political parties for receiving claims and objections would be conducted from November 13 and November 20, 2016 in Kashmir Division and the same would be done on October 15 and October 22, 2016 in Jammu region and Ladakh area, says the notification.Meanwhile disposal of claims and objections would be done in Kashmir Division and Jammu and ladakh regions on December 15, 2016 and November 15, 2016 respectively, while updating the database, merging of photographs, updating the control tables and preparation and printing of Supplementary lists would be done on December 31, 2016 and December 10, 2016 respectively.Final publication of electoral rolls would be done next year on January 10 in Jammu and Ladakh regions and on January 14 in Kashmir, reads the notification.
