Commissioner Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon today visited PG College for Boys and Government College for Women to take stock of the functioning of these higher education institutes.District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Niraj Kumar, Director RUSA Tariq Zargar, Special Secretary, Higher Education Dept. Indu Gupta, Principals PG College & Government Women College, Executive Engineer PWD, District Social Welfare Officer accompanied the Commissioner Secretary on the occasion.Dr. Samoon expressed his satisfaction over quality of education being imparted to the students in both the colleges.Describing students as future of the nation, he called upon the faculty members to focus on the overall development of students by engaging them co-curricular activities side by side academics. He stressed on providing better infrastructure facilities, smart classes and introduction of job oriented courses. He instructed the Principal of the college to prepare a prospective plan in this regard.During his visit to the college campuses, he inspected the classrooms, science labs and other facilities. He also interacted with students and faculty members of both the colleges and listened to their problems The Secretary asked the DDC to prepare a detailed project report for the construction of new Girls hostel at Government College for Women.Later, he also visited the construction site of Majalta Degree College.
