Scores of civilians have been injured in Adijan village in Kulgam district when CRPF and police tried to stop protesters to reach the rally venue in the district.People in Kulgam and Shopian districts has called for Damhal Hanjipora ‘chalo’ to express solidarity with the civilians who were killed on July 8 and 9 in following killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in Kokernag area in Anantnag disitrct.Reports said that thousands of people had reached the Adijan village to attend the rally. Youth had arrived on bikes, cabs, tractors and other vehicles. However, forces had imposed curfew in the area and put strict barricades on Adijan bridge. The people tried to remove these barricades to reach the venue.But CRPF and police fired teargas shells, pellets to disperse the protesters. Reports said that scores of protesters were injured in the shelling and with pellets. Reports also said that atleast 15 bikes have been burnt by forces. 

About 28 injured youths have been treated at District Hospital Kulgam, while more than six injured civilians have been referred to Srinagar for advanced treatment.Though the locals said that more than hundred people have been injured by the firing of pellets and teargas shells, yet the police Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Kashmir range, Ghulam Hassan Bhat, told KNS that 26 policemen and dozens of protesters were injured during the clashes. He said that over 10,000 people were trying to march to Kulgam district.In Koil village of Pulwama district, a rally was organised by the locals which was attended by thousands of youth from all the neighbouring areas.Reports said that thousands of youth marched to Koil on bikes, cabs. However the rally passed off peacefully. (KNS)
