Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today asked senior functionaries  of various departments to immediately take up repairs of infrastructure damaged due to recent heavy rain in the Jammu so that the people do not suffer for the want of safe drinking water, power supply and road connectivity.The Speaker was speaking at a meeting convened to take stock of damages caused by heavy rains. He asked all departments to carry out the repair works to restore public utilities immediately and submit work report to his office by July 31. He also asked them that there should be no delay in restoring the facilities providing to the people.Member Assembly Constituency (MLA), Jammu West and East, Sat Sharma, Rajesh Gupta and District Development Commissioner Jammu, Simrandeep Singh were also present in the meeting.

Speaker also directed the concerned authorities to remove the encroachments along the nallahs and take strict action against the encroachers.  He stressed on restoration of all Nallahs for smooth flow of rainy water.The DC apprised the meeting about the damages to public utilities. He also informed the meeting that the families of two girls who were washed away in flood in Janipur area were given cheques of Rs. 8 lakh as compensation.Among others present in the meeting included SSP Jammu, Sunil Gupta, VC JDA, Mubarak Singh, SP South, Shehzad Salaria, Joint Commissioner JMC, RS Jamwal Chief Engineers of PWD (R&B), PHE and EM&RE departments and officers of UEED, ERA and other departments.
