The government move to stop volunteer organizations to provide any kind of assistance to wounded patients and their attendants sparked a massive protest outside SMHS Hospital Srinagar while protesters alleged that government wants to leave the attendants and injured patient at the mercy of God. “It is move to harass and annoy people. The government wants to add to the hardships of the people,” the protesters said and there was nothing wrong in providing free food and medicines to the injured who are being treated in this hospital.“Authorities asked us to close down all volunteer activities and not to provide food and medicines to the injured and other needy people,” they said.

Reports said that as the news about closure of the langers and volunteers organizations spread, large number of attendants and locals came on main road and staged an anti-government protest.

“This is the height of highhandedness. They use bullets and pellets on peaceful protestors and then block all ways to deny them any assistance in hospitals by the locals,” they rued. They said that most injured are from south and north Kashmir, adding, “Their family members are not here. Attendants are running short of money and they need help from the volunteers. We are doing our bit at least to provide them some food and medicines on humanitarian basis,” they said and alleged that government is pursuing anti-people policies to annoy and harass them.Despite repeated attempts, no official was ready to comment on the issue.
