Opposition National Conference Wednesday said that it will not attend “meaningless exercise” that has been called by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti tomorrow amid the ongoing unrest. The NC said that the meeting called by the CM “is too little too late.”“When the chief minister could meet civil society after two days why did it took her 12 days to think about all parties meeting. Omar Sahab had on the first day told the chief minister for his support in restoring peace to the Valley,” NC’s provincial president, Nasir Aslam Wani told KNS.“PDP is itself not in the command. Education minister is saying one thing on media gag, and CM’s political adviser is saying something else,” Wani said.
“One of the MP has appealed to Prime Minister in the parliament for helping in restoring peace which indicates that the centre is directly handling the situation in the state. So in such circumstances, going to the meeting will be a meaningless exercise,” he added.“ What will we get in attending the meeting when they are not in command and control?”The chief minister had called an all parties meeting on July 21 to be held at SKICC for helping and restoring normalcy in the Valley.JKPCC, Independent legislators M Y Tarigami, PDF chairman Hakeem Yaseen and former minister and DNP chairman Ghulam Hassan Mir have given a go ahead to the meeting.
