A group of masked youth claiming to be the members of Karavan-e-Azadi- on Thursday urged people to remain united at this crucial juncture. Talking to reporters here these youth said that efforts are being made to divide Kashmiris.“We are neither Shias nor Sunnis we are Kashmiris and are collectively fighting for Azadi,” they said. The masked men said that they know stone-pelting will not yield any desired results but added that they have no option and are not being provided political space. “We want to fight politically and peacefully but we are being squeezed and no political space is being given to us. Even pro-freedom leaders are not allowed to move freely. We have no alternative but to resort to stone-pelting,” they said.

“Bullets and pellets are fired upon unarmed youth. We are neither against Hurriyat leaders nor against anyone. We support the people who are with Azadi. We will continue to fight for Azadi, whether through stones, pen or other political means,” they said. These masked youth according to news agency CNS castigated Indian media for biased reporting on Kashmir. “These Indian news channels don’t reflect the situation on ground but spread only white lies to defame our freedom movement. We want to make it clear that we have not gone astray but are educated ones. Neither one can exploit us nor can anyone buy our confidence,” they said and added that they respect all the pro-freedom Hurriyat leaders and want people to come forward to take this movement to its logical conclusion.
